Executive Fellow Leadership and Association Management

The NPA Post-Doctoral Fellowship is designed to develop leaders prepared to assume high-level leadership in pharmacy practice or professional association by providing exceptional training in organizational development, project management, and administration.

The Fellow will be immersed in pharmacy practice advancement, professional networking opportunities, and quality improvement initiatives. The program will enhance the Fellow’s skills in executive leadership, project management, member engagement, policy development, non-profit administration, and student mentorship. The experience will position the Fellow for leadership and management positions in pharmacy or other health-related associations, pharmaceutical industry, government, health information exchange organizations, chain corporations, and more. The Executive Fellowship is based in Lincoln, Nebraska. This is primarily an in-person position with opportunities for virtual work. The Post-Doctoral Fellow is supervised by the NPA Chief Executive Officer.



Program Goals & Fellow Responsibilities

  • Develop competence in professional association management
  • Serve as the key project manager for the Hospital/Health-Systems & Industry Network Conference (HSINC)
  • Review the healthcare landscape concerning federal and state issues facing pharmacy
  • Coordinate a Fellow program-specific project aimed at advancing the interests of the NPA and its members
  • Conduct advocacy efforts at the state legislature and administrative agencies
  • Serve as the network liaison between the NPA and the two in-state pharmacy schools: Creighton University School of Pharmacy & Health Professions and the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy located in Omaha, Nebraska
  • Mentor and lead students at the NPA Fall Forum for New Drug Presentations
  • Manage Double Dose articles to provide reliable, up-to-date information for members
  • Coordinate the accreditation and publication process for APPE students’ continuing education articles for the Nebraska Mortar & Pestle journal
  • Review and update the Nebraska MPJE Study Review
  • Other responsibilities to be added as the Fellowship requires


Job Requirements

  • Completion of an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • Must obtain a Nebraska Pharmacist License by August 1, 2026
  • Proficiency in English, creation of professional presentations, and public speaking responsibilities
  • Self-motivated, analytical thinker with a detailed work style; able to work independently or in groups
  • Collaborate with NPA staff, NPA members, and partnering associations at the state and national level with a willingness and enthusiasm to advance Nebraska pharmacy practice with the singular purpose of improving patients’ lives
  • Maintains the highest level of professionalism and company integrity when interacting with members and other healthcare professionals
  • Use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook is required, as well as the use of the NPA membership database software and the NPA website
  • Full-time, salary position – professional commitment expected during the traditional 40-hour week and beyond to meet deadlines, advance work


Post-Doctoral Fellowship Benefits

  • July 1, 2026 - June 30 2027
  • Stipend: $50,000
  • Five days of paid time off
  • Twelve paid holidays per year, as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Paid time off from December 23, 2026, to January 1, 2027
  • Three days of sick leave
  • Complimentary 1-year NPA membership
  • Travel support to attend the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Annual Meeting
  • Regular business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
